A collapsible container house arrives folded flat, opens out on site, and folds back down when the project moves. Nothing is cut and nothing is welded on site. For contractors who shift a site office every eight to twelve months, that single property changes the whole cost picture.
This guide covers what a collapsible container house actually is, what it costs in India, the build specification to ask any supplier for, and when it beats an ordinary container cabin.
What is a collapsible container house?
It is a steel-framed cabin whose walls fold down onto the floor and whose roof drops on top, so the whole unit travels as a flat slab instead of a full box. On site it is lifted off the trailer, the walls swing up, the roof settles, and the cabin is ready.
Because it travels flat, several units stack on one trailer. A normal container cabin takes a full trailer each. That is where the transport saving comes from, and it is also why these units reach sites with narrow approach roads where a full box cannot turn.
You can watch the folding and opening sequence on our product page — two real videos, filmed end to end.
Collapsible container house price in India
Our folding unit is Rs. 5,99,000 per cabin. That price is final and non-negotiable. GST and transport are extra, and delivery is within 45 days of a confirmed order.
When you compare quotes, make sure you are comparing the same thing. Ask every supplier for these four numbers in writing:
- Panel thickness and what the panel core is
- Steel sheet thickness on both faces of the panel
- Column and beam thickness
- What the floor is made of
A cabin that looks identical in a photograph can be two thicknesses lighter in the steel, and you only find out in the second monsoon.

Collapsible container house vs ordinary container cabin
Both give you the same working space. The difference shows up in transport, site access and what happens at the end of the job.
- Transport: a folding unit travels flat, so more units fit on one trailer. A fixed cabin needs a trailer to itself.
- Site access: a flat slab gets into tight lanes and basements that a full box cannot reach.
- Reuse: at the end of a project you fold it and carry it to the next site instead of selling it off cheap or leaving it behind.
- Speed: opening is a lifting job, not a fabrication job. No cutting, no welding, no site fabricator.
Where a fixed cabin still wins is custom work. If you want a non-standard size, a toilet block inside, or heavy modification, look at our site office cabins or used shipping container offices instead.
Where a folding office cabin makes sense
- Solar and transmission projects where the site office moves with the stringing work
- Highway and metro packages spread over many kilometres
- Sites with narrow approach roads — hill sites, plant interiors, congested city plots
- Contractors who run several sites a year and want one asset, not one cabin per site
Questions buyers ask
How long does it take to open on site?
It is a crane or hydra job, not a fabrication job. The unit is lifted, the walls swing up and the roof settles. Keep a lifting arrangement ready at the site before the trailer arrives.
Can it be folded again later?
Yes. That is the point of the design. Fold it down, move it, open it again at the next location.
Is it weather proof?
The panel is a 50 mm PUF sandwich with pre-painted steel on both faces, and the window is double glazed with a wind-resistant shutter. Seal the base on an uneven plot the way you would for any cabin.
Can we add air conditioning or extra points?
Extra windows, extra power points, AC provision or an attached toilet can be added on request. Tell us what you need when you ask for the quote, because it changes the price.
What is the delivery time?
Within 45 days of a confirmed order. Transport is quoted separately once we know the delivery district.
